Our Aims;

As part of our Applied Classics course, we have been trying to map ancient forced migrations journeys across antiquity.

We want to create an interactive map that allows our users to engage with literary and material evidence from the ancient world through a visual journey, showing the dangers that ancient migrants faced when travelling across the Mediterranean.

We hope that this will make texts and materials about forced migrations from ancient authors more accessible, and will highlight the perils and problems that may not be emphasised within the original sources.

Through combining the sources with our own carefully crafted narratives, based on our research, we hope that these tales capture your interest and encourage you to reflect on forced migration journeys. The map will allow you to follow tales from antiquity, tracing journeys that ancient figures endured, such as Aeneas and his family, highlighting the length of time and distance they took, as well as dangers and obstacles they faced.
